Good Night - Hope

As you might know, Lenten Season is a time of meditation, reflection about our life, our good purposes. A time of reconciliation and prayer. A time to be with Jesus Our Lord in the dessert, to face the temptations of our life.

I invite you to take this time seriously, as real sons and daughters of Don Bosco. Let us make fasting every Friday dedicating that time to prayer and charity. You don't need to go far to help the poor. Be kind with the people near to you. As a boy, girl or young person, you can help your companions, friends and relatives. This time is a good one to train on prayer. Spend some minutes of silence to put your mind on the Holy Sacrament.

Fasting Proposals for boys and girls of Don Bosco

Here I let you some proposals for this time. Remember that we make this practice in the concern of others, as our Pope invites us:

  • Do not use the Internet, computer, iPhone, etc, for the Lenten Fridays. Let us dedicate this time to improve our personal relations. We do not need to be in a Chat to meet the persons we love. The time you will spend offline, you will dedicate to the poor and in need.
  • Do not access to websites with adult content all these 40 days of fasting. Try it. Free your mind from obscenity and vanity. Dedicate that time you use to waste in front to dirty sites to prayer, silence, confession...
  • Talk about Jesus, Don Bosco, charity, forgiveness, peace, prayer on your Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, Skype, iPhone... Remember, you can communicate love in 145 words to all your contacts. Do not feel shame to talk about Jesus online.
It is all my dear boys, girls and youth of Don Bosco in Asia. Please see also some resources for this time like this guide to the Lenten Season prepared by OSV. There is a beautiful page of the Oblates of Saint Francis of Sales giving ideas for a ten minutes retreat. A good recommendation for this time is to read lives of saints. Please see this short online biography of Saint Francis of Sales, our Patron. Here a summary of the season if you want to prepare some talks. Blessings and prayers.

'It's more comfortable for people to think of abortion as a political decision, or a right. But I am not a right. I am a human being. I am the reality. Gently I put the question, if abortion is about women's rights, then where were mine? There was no radical feminist screaming for my rights on that day.'
